Services
I'm new to editing. What do I need to do first?
If you are new to editing, then the first thing you need to do is CELEBRATE! You’ve finished your first project, and that’s worthy of a happy dance and maybe an adult beverage!
If this isn’t your first project, you still need to celebrate because you’re getting ready to take some pretty monumental steps.
Steps of Editing for New Authors - click on each of topics on the list to learn more
- 1. Self-edit or Developmental Edit
- 2. Line Edit
- Stop here if you're going to publish through a traditional publisher. Keep going if you are self-publishing.
- 3. Copyedit
- 4. Proofread
- 5. Don't know what to do? Start with a sample edit. See the next section below for details!
Sample Edit
What is a sample edit?
This is an edit that determines what services you may need.
If you request a line edit, for instance, it will allow me to determine if a line edit is what you need, how much time I will need to complete the edit, and what the cost will be.
How does it work?
You'll give me the best 1,000 words you've written and the 1,000 words where you've struggled the most in this project. I'll go through and do an edit for you on these pages. It may be a line edit, a copyedit, or both depending on what services we're discussing.
What will it cost you?
Currently, I'm doing sample edits for $30 USD. That price will be going up in the near future. This is a non-refundable fee, but if you choose to use 43 Frogs Editing, it will be taken off the final price of the project.
One note about the final cost: I'm doing the one thing that drove me nuts on other people's websites. Not listing exact prices. This is not a ploy to get you to contact me. This is because I charge within a range of industry standards, but I also take a lot of other factors into account. I will always attempt to be fair to both of us when deciding on a price.
Genre & Theme Guide
I provide services for the following Genres & Themes.
Let’s see if we’re a match!
-
Genres:
General Fiction
Women's Literature
Romance (all levels of spice and heat)
-
Themes:
I will edit most themes, but the following characters and themes are some of my favorites:
Christian or Jewish - I'm more well-versed in Christianity but have a deep interest in Judaism so if you have characters who are either or both, I'm your editor!
Medical themes - if you have a character that is a doctor, nurse or someone else in the medical field, I'd love to see it!
Please Note:
If your project has an excessive use of GD, JC, or the P-word (feline variety), please replace it before sending it to me for editing or consider a different editor.
I will consider providing services for the following Genres & Themes on a case-by-case basis.
